Student Assistant in International HR*

in Bonn

The position is to be filled by September 1st, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany. You will work 20 hours/week, to enable you to continue your qualification within the framework of your current studies. Mobile work within Germany is possible in agreement with your team. 100% mobile work is not possible. The position is remunerated with 15 Euro per hour.

Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional HR environment while contributing to the mission of an international NGO? As a Student Assistant in the HR Department at Welthungerhilfe, you’ll support our day-to-day operations and ongoing projects, while learning how human resources works in a globally active organization.

This role is a great opportunity to build practical skills in communication, data analysis, HR systems like SAP, and internal process coordination. You’ll work closely with a supportive team and get insights into HR generalist tasks, compliance procedures, and internal communications – all while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Your responsibilities

• Act as a point of contact for basic inquiries via phone and email – helping team members and colleagues throughout the organisation.

• Assist with filing and general administrative tasks, giving you a solid understanding of how HR operations function day to day.

• Support in creating and maintaining HR statistics and presentations using MS Excel, PowerPoint and other tools – perfect for developing your analytical and data visualization skills.

• Get hands-on experience with SAP and learn how digital HR systems support processes like contract management, recruitment, and onboarding.

• Help manage and update our internal HR landing page on the Welthungerhilfe intranet.

• Support the team with audit preparation, gaining valuable insight into how compliance and documentation work in an HR context.

Your profile

• You are currently enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences

• You have good command of MS Office applications

• You are characterized by a structured, organized, and process-oriented way of working

• You enjoy working in an intercultural environment and have an open, communicative personality

• You have very good English and German skills, both written and spoken
