As an Associate at ECBF, you will play a central role throughout the investment lifecycle. From sourcing and evaluating opportunities to executing investments and supporting portfolio companies on their growth journey.

From day one, you will take ownership of a broad range of responsibilities including:

Deal Sourcing & Market Intelligence

• Scout, identify, evaluate, and proactively source attractive investment opportunities across the European circular bioeconomy ecosystem.
• Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, industry experts, investors, and ecosystem partners.
• Conduct market mapping, competitive benchmarking, and technology trend analysis.
• Contribute to the development of ECBF’s investment thesis and sector perspectives.

Investment Analysis & Due Diligence

• Lead financial modelling, valuation analyses, and scenario planning.
• Assess business models, technologies, markets, and competitive positioning.
• Coordinate and execute commercial, technical, financial, and ESG due diligence processes.
• Prepare investment memoranda, presentations, and recommendations for the Investment Committee.
• Support transaction structuring and execution.

Portfolio Development & Value Creation

• Support portfolio companies in strategic and operational matters.
• Monitor portfolio performance, KPIs, and value creation initiatives.
• Assist portfolio companies in fundraising activities, strategic partnerships, and growth projects.
• Build strong relationships with founders and management teams.

Fund & Platform Development

• Contribute to fundraising, investor relations, and reporting activities.
• Develop sector insights, thought leadership content, and market intelligence reports.
• Support the continuous development of ECBF’s investment platform and ecosystem.

You are a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual who enjoys analysing both technical and financial topics.

You have a strong instinct for identifying attractive investment opportunities and a genuine passion for innovation.

You bring at least 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in venture capital, or a related investment environment.

You have solid experience in financial analysis, financial modelling, valuation, transaction execution, and due diligence processes. You are comfortable assessing business models, unit economics, cap tables, growth plans, funding needs, runway, margins, and key value drivers of growth-stage companies.

You are numerically strong and enjoy working with data, financial models, and quantitative analyses. You have advanced Excel skills, a natural affinity for numbers, business models, and financial logic, and the ability to translate analysis into clear investment insights and recommendations.A degree in finance, with a focus on quantitative finance, mathematics, economics, engineering, natural sciences, or another analytical field is a strong fit. Most importantly, you are motivated to deepen your understanding of new markets, technologies, and investment themes and to apply this knowledge in a venture capital context. An MBA, CFA, or equivalent business qualification is considered an advantage.

You combine analytical rigour with commercial judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the willingness to challenge assumptions. You are able to work independently, take ownership of workstreams, and contribute actively to sourcing, investment analysis, due diligence, and portfolio support.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with founders, colleagues, and external stakeholders.

Fluent English is required; additional European languages are a strong plus.

You are highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office applications. What you can expect from us:
