Policy Manager Country Requirements (m-f-d)
The Scope
We are looking for 2 engaged Policy Managers who bring solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment.
These roles will strengthen our capacity in developing, maintaining, and aligning the technological and normative foundations that support Forest Stewardship Standards (FSS) and Risk Assessment (RA) processes. While the two roles share a strong core of responsibilities, each position brings its own area of emphasis—one focused on technological solutions development , and the other on technical alignment and internal process support .
These roles are ideal for individuals who excel at combining technical systems thinking with structured document development, stakeholder engagement, and cross-team collaboration.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead activities related to drafting, developing, maintaining, and reviewing FSC normative documents and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders regarding normative documents managed by the Country Requirements Team.
- Manage the maintenance, improvement, and monitoring of outputs of technological tools and databases used by the team.
- Plan, facilitate, and report on meetings, webinars, trainings, and events for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support procurement activities and funding streams related to Risk Assessments and Forest Stewardship Standards.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor, including project specific work aligned with organizational priorities.
Technology Solutions
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the identification, design, development, implementation, and communication of technological solutions supporting Country Requirements activities.
- Act as an in-unit technical resource, collaborating with the Policy Solutions team to create innovative digital tools that enhance workflows and partner engagement.
- Oversee the lifecycle of digital tools, ensuring usability, accessibility, and continuous improvement.
Standards Specialist
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the alignment of technical needs, internal systems, and process outcomes related to FSS and RA development.
- Serve as a supporting reviewer for Country Requirements processes, ensuring consistency across systems and outputs.
- Lead or assist in the development of internal tools for FSC staff and standard developers engaged in Risk Assessment and FSS development.
Your profile
- University degree in a relevant field (e.g., Forest Management, Environmental Science, Public Administration, Quality Management, Non‑profit Management); a Master’s is an asset.
- 5+ years of professional experience in related fields such as certification systems, forestry/natural resource management, public administration, or non‑profit work.
- Strong writing skills, including ability to draft SOPs, reports, and normative document language clearly and effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and coordinate across teams and stakeholder groups.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- High accuracy, diligence, proactiveness, and a solution‑oriented working style.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, including process‑oriented thinking for standards and risk assessment development.
- Technical proficiency, including experience with Microsoft 365 tools, Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics; experience developing digital tools is an advantage.
- Experience with GIS tools and familiarity with forest policy, sustainability certification, or the FSC system are beneficial.
- Fluency in English; French fluency is an advantage.

The Fine Print
- Location: Bonn, Germany.
- Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
- Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance) & 2 years (parental leave substitute).
