We are looking for a Director Talent & Capability based in Bonn, Germany.
Talent & Capability is accountable for designing, governing, and continuously evolving DHL Express’ global talent and capability architecture, ensuring the organization has the leadership, skills, performance culture, and succession depth required to deliver on Strategy 2030 and remain a Great Place to Thrive.
This is a hands-on global role. The Director shapes and drives enterprise-level frameworks for talent, performance, leadership, and learning from concept through implementation in a lean, fast-paced environment where outcomes are achieved through expertise, influence, and collaboration rather than large teams.
Success in this role requires a pragmatic builder who can balance strategic enterprise design with day-to-day delivery, creating scalable, practical, and relevant solutions for diverse employee populations across regions and functions, including significant frontline and operational workforces.
How will you contribute to the success of DHL?
- Design and continuously evolve DHL Express’ global Talent Management and Performance approach, ensuring alignment with DHL Group standards and business priorities.
- Lead high-potential identification, succession planning, and leadership pipeline frameworks that are globally consistent while remaining relevant across local business contexts.
- Build strong leadership depth and future-ready capability through focused leadership development and learning solutions.
- Define and govern the global Learning strategy, ensuring solutions are modern, scalable, and accessible across diverse workforce segments.
- Evolve learning journeys, capability frameworks, and development approaches that balance strategic priorities with practical applicability.
- Act as an integrator across Talent Acquisition, Engagement, and DEIB to deliver a coherent, high-performance employee experience aligned with Great Place to Thrive principles.
- Govern and optimize leadership development programs, Career Marketplace, myTalentWorld, vendor partnerships, and related investments to maximize business impact.
- Use data, analytics, and feedback to measure impact and continuously improve talent and capability outcomes.
- Drive key global projects end to end, from design through execution, ensuring frameworks are implemented consistently across a complex, matrix environment.
Do you have what it takes?
- Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
- Typically, 8–10+ years of experience across Talent Management, Performance, Leadership Development, and/or Learning in a global, matrix environment.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise frameworks and scalable people solutions.
- Comfort operating in a lean, high-ownership environment, leading through influence rather than hierarchy.
- Demonstrated ability to combine strategic capability building with hands-on delivery.
- Strong business acumen and experience in organizations with large frontline or operational workforces.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across functions, regions, and levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to use data and insight to drive improvement.
- Experience translating strategic concepts into practical frameworks, tools, and implementation approaches that can be applied consistently across geographies and employee populations.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are an advantage.
Please submit your application along with your CV and a copy of your highest educational degree (e.g., Bachelor’s, Master’s, or MBA certificate).
