Senior SAP S/4HANA Finance & Tax Consultant - Freelance

We are supporting a global S/4HANA transformation program for an international client. For the Finance & Tax stream, we are looking for an experienced SAP S/4HANA Finance & Tax Consultant to support ongoing deployment activities.

This role plays a key part in ensuring high-quality delivery across international rollouts, with a strong focus on tax processes, compliance, and integration within complex system landscapes.

Tasks

• Support the Finance Deployment Stream within the S/4HANA program as a Finance/Tax process specialist
• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Finance and Tax processes across all project phases
• Drive and support deployment activities throughout the full rollout lifecycle (fit-gap, design, build, test, go-live, hypercare)
• Ensure alignment and coordination across parallel rollouts and workstreams
• Analyze, optimize, and safeguard business processes with a focus on efficiency and compliance
• Lead process alignment and solution design workshops with business stakeholders
• Ensure adherence to global template standards and governance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Tax, IT, Business) to ensure end-to-end integration
• Support the implementation and optimization of tax-related processes, including determination, reporting, and compliance
• Contribute to digital compliance initiatives such as e-invoicing and statutory reporting

Requirements

• 8+ years of SAP FI consulting experience with a strong focus on Tax
• Proven track record in SAP ERP and S/4HANA transformation programs across the full lifecycle
• Deep expertise in SAP Tax for EU and global regions, including Indirect Taxes, Withholding Taxes, Corporate Income Taxes, SAP DRC, and country-specific localizations
• Strong knowledge of EU VAT directives, e-invoicing and reporting compliance
• Hands-on experience with tax engines or external tax determination solutions (e.g., Vertex, Thomson Reuters or similar)
• Proven experience in international, multi-country S/4HANA rollouts (ideally across multiple jurisdictions)
• Strong understanding of e-invoicing, e-reporting, and digital tax compliance frameworks in global environments
• Experience acting as Lead Consultant or senior SME in complex, international transformation programs
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end Finance & Controlling processes and tax-relevant integration points (FI, SD, MM)
